Longtime character actor James Rebhorn passed away after a long struggle with skin cancer. He was 65 and most recently played Frank Mathison, Carrie Mathison’s (Claire Danes) father on the Showtime drama Homeland. According to Rebhorn’s agent he died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992.
Robin Thicke is trying to get back in the good graces of his estranged wife Paula Patton that he’s spending tons of money on jewelry. Sources say these apology gifts arrive on an almost daily basis. So far Robin sent Paula a diamond tennis bracelet followed by turquoise earrings and a gorgeous platinum chain that holds a diamond key. Word is Paula informed Robin that the jewels won’t win her back and she feels insulted that Robin thinks she could be bought so easily. Paula will allow Robin back if he first addresses his “obsession with sex.”
A CGI of Paul Walker will be used in the next Fast and Furious movie. When Paul died in a car accident last November, Walker’s character, cop Brian O’Conner, was going to be “retired” from the next film, Fast and Furious 7. The release date was pushed back until April 2015 to accommodate screenwriting changes. Walker already filmed some parts, and a source says that there are four body doubles standing in, and that Walker’s face and voice will be recreated using CGI.
Aretha Franklin celebrated her 72nd birthday bash Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in New York. Denzel Washington and Clive Davis were some of the celebrities there to celebrate. Word is Aretha is working with Andre 3000 and Babyface on new music too.
At the movies this weekend, Divergent snagged 1st place and made $56 million bucks. Muppets Most Wanted took 2nd and earned $16.5 million. Mr. Peabody & Sherman, came in 3rd while 300: Rise of An Empire grabbed 4th. God's Not Dead rounds out the Top 5.
