Another instance of New York City’s bike sharing program causing headaches for New Yorker's was revealed Tuesday by CBS News. According to the news report, drivers who were initially legally parked were given parking tickets after the DOT changed the parking signs.
CBS News got a hold of security video showing parking signs being changed and a traffic officer coming over to give cars parked in a previously legal spot parking tickets.
Cars were parked legally on West 15th street where signs read "Alternate side parking, Monday and Thursday." However, the signs were changed by the DOT to "No Standing Anytime." A traffic officer then came over about 30 minutes later to give the drivers $115 parking tickets. The parking signs were being changed due to the new bike sharing stations that were installed for the Citi Bike program set to begin Memorial Day.
