Five Boro Bike Tour Cyclist Dies After Going Into Cardiac Arrest

(Christopher Robbins) A cyclist died after going into cardiac arrest on the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge during the Five Boro Bike Tour. An NYPD spokesman confirmed that 51-year-old Michael Boren collapsed on the bridge at around 10:50 a.m. He was transported to Cornell Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Boren traveled from Almont, Michigan to participate in the event, which hosts 32,000 riders on a 40-mile tour through the city.

The organizer of the event, Bike New York, referred to the matter on Twitter as a "medical incident" on the Manhattan side of the bridge. A message left with Bike New York was not immediately returned.
